Agenda: Inclusive Business for Sunflower value chain
AMDT and Rural Urban Development Initiatives (RUDI) have signed partnership to work together in developing the Sunflower value chain in the central region of Dodoma. The project will focus on facilitating inclusive business growth in the sector in order to benefit up to 10,000 farmers, mostly smallholder producers.
The Tzs 344 million partnership is aimed at transforming the Sunflower sector as the basis for the edible oil industry. Among key aspects of the initiative will be stimulating the markets for improved sunflower seeds. This is expected to benefit farmers through access to affordable good quality seeds.
Another focus will be to facilitate contractual arrangements between farmers, mostly smallholder producers, and sunflower processors, from micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to largescale.
